Day 1. Woke up at 5:30am to fly to Vancouver BC. Landed around noon, took a nap then went out to explore. (Bar hopped). We found an interesting bar in the Rosewood Hotel called The 1927 Lounge. We got cocktails and and truffle fries that were delicious!

We walked down to Gastown, the oldest neighborhood in Vancouver. It is known for its Victorian architecture, cobblestone streets, and the famous Gastown Steam Clock.

Pint Public House

The Pint Public House was our next stop. They have a great selection of tap beers and wings. We opted for the lager and pork dumplings.

Next we found Kazak Ukrainian Bar and Restaurant. We sat outside and enjoyed some of the best perofies I have ever had. Our waiter was very fun and sugggested that we try thier signature drink, the “Glory to Ukraine" shot. The shot visually represents the Ukrainian flag, made with an opaque yellow egg liqueur and a translucent blue liqueur (like Blue Curaçao). It was a sweet, creamy dessert-like drink.

Inside the restaurant, there was a cardboard cut our the the Ukrainian president Zelensky. Of coarse we took a selfie with it!

Sandy had found a speakeasy in the Chinatown area of Vancouver. It was a bit of hike to get there and it went through some pretty sketchy areas, but it was worth it. It is called Blind Tiger Dumpling shop. The speakeasy is called Laowai and is hidden behind the storefront of BLND TGER Dumplings in Chinatown. To gain entry, you must first enter the dumpling shop and order the "Number 7" from the menu. (Note, there is only dumpling numbers 1-6 on the menu.) Once your order is called, they bring you through the steel door behind the counter.

The Laowai speakeasy bar behind the dumpling counter is inspired by 1920s Shanghai speakeasies and has a dark, opulent interior with peacock shades of teal and gold. Its cocktail menu is themed around Chinese inventions and offers original cocktails featuring spirits like baijiu.
